Mill Stone Transformation
Project Overview
In early 2022, I embarked on a challenging yet rewarding project to transform a demolished mill into a restored building. A local merchant had contacted me to process the stone backing to a thickness of 150mm for the building's reconstruction.
The Process
With no prior experience in such a large-scale undertaking, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. Using traditional stone dressing techniques - a hammer, chisel, Stihl saw, and wedge - I meticulously transformed 420 yards of raw stone into usable building material. The entire process took 26 demanding days.
The Outcome
Witnessing the rebuilt mill standing tall was incredibly gratifying. This project was a pivotal moment in my career, showcasing my ability to handle large-scale stone dressing projects efficiently and effectively. It also marked the beginning of a successful partnership with the client, with ongoing stone processing work becoming a regular part of my business.
